FOR project`s contents

This project intends to apply innovative CLIL method to multilingual learning-teaching system in upper secondary education, with the regard to develop academic language skills related to Botany vocabulary and mythology, and social language abilities in English to B2 level. So, having as starting point the official curricula of upper secondary education within our respective countries (Spain, Italy, and Greece), upper secondary pupils are going to work simultaneously on various contents in English (Botany related vocabulary in English and modern languages, classical roots of Botany vocabulary, classical myths and plants) belonging to more than one academic discipline: modern languages (English and partners` mother tongues: Spanish, Basque, Italian, and Greek), classical languages and literatures (Latin and Ancient Greek), classical culture (Mythology), natural science (Botany related vocabulary), and computers (on line platforms and applications).

Concerning the main subject of F.O.R. Project, students and teachers attended the Ikebana workshop and arranged some floral compositions.
Ikebana is a way of arranging flowers that was developed by the Japanese. It was introduced in Japan in the sixth century by Chinese Buddhist missionaries, who had formalized the ritual of offering flowers to Buddha. The art is based on the harmony of simple linear constructions and the appreciation of the subtle beauty of flowers and natural material, such as branches and stems.

Visit to The “Royal Palace at Quisisana”

Today we visit the park belonging to the Royal Palace at Quisisana, the domus of loco sano with a botanist who explained some aspects related to the plants of  FOR project.

The “Royal Palace at Quisisana” is practically unknown even to those who know the area; yet it lays claim to being the first such royal residence in the north of the ancient Kingdom of Naples, older even than the Angevin fortress at the port (from 1300).

Visiting the the Bizantine museum, the Lykeion of Aristoteles and the National Garden (02-03-2017)

In the Byzantine museum we attended "The Gardens" exhibition.

The gardens of the Byzantine Museum are an oasis in the heart of the city where visitors can take an imaginary journey through history and art. Seating areas are provided under the fruit trees, surrounded by aromatic herbs and fountains. Three small themed exhibitions of historic and archaeological interest are presented in the gardens:
The Well-Cistern, on how Athens was supplied with water from ancient times to the present; Paradise, on the Byzantine concept of Paradise in life and the afterlife; and The River Ilissos, on the development of the fluvial landscape on the banks of the Ilissos from antiquity to modern times.

Aristotle’s Lyceum (Peripatetic School) used to be one of the three oldest gymnasia in ancient Athens.

The National Garden (formerly the Royal Garden)  is a public park of 15.5 hectares (38 acres) in the center of Athens.

From Bilbao and Castellammare to Athens (01-03-2017)

A day has finally arived!
We departed from the airport of Loiu at 7:10 to Paris where we made so short stopover that our suitcases remained there. Just as well that in the airport of Athens we were given a survival kit!
As a counterpoint to such adversity, at the airport, we met our Italian partners whom we really wanted to see.
