FOR project`s contents

This project intends to apply innovative CLIL method to multilingual learning-teaching system in upper secondary education, with the regard to develop academic language skills related to Botany vocabulary and mythology, and social language abilities in English to B2 level. So, having as starting point the official curricula of upper secondary education within our respective countries (Spain, Italy, and Greece), upper secondary pupils are going to work simultaneously on various contents in English (Botany related vocabulary in English and modern languages, classical roots of Botany vocabulary, classical myths and plants) belonging to more than one academic discipline: modern languages (English and partners` mother tongues: Spanish, Basque, Italian, and Greek), classical languages and literatures (Latin and Ancient Greek), classical culture (Mythology), natural science (Botany related vocabulary), and computers (on line platforms and applications).

Orto Botanico of Naples

On December 3, 2015, target group students from Urbi, Varvakeio and Plinio Seniore visited the orto Botanico di Napoli.The actual surface area of the Botanical Garden of Naples is nearly 12 hectares in which 9,000 species are present and a total of almost 25,000 samples grouped together according to their systematic, ecological and ethnobotanic.

Visiting Boscoreale

December 2, 2015, students taking part in the school exchange and target groups from Plinio Seniore visited the Antiquarium of Boscoreale. Instituted in 1991, the National Antiquarium of Boscoreale documents the life of the ancient inhabitants of the Vesuvius area, with exhibits from the sites of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis, Stabiae, Terzigno and Boscoreale. The visiting itinerary unfolds in two rooms. The first is dedicated to the territory’s physical features, such as the sea, hills, and mountains, and human activities tied to these aspects: hunting, fishing and animal farming, with series of significant objects, such as the interesting remains of foods. The second room presents the principal archaeological finds discovered at the Boscoreale site.

Visiting Pompeii

December 2, 2015, students taking part in the school exchange and target groups from Plinio Seniore visited the archaeological site of Pompeii. the guides of the visit placed special emphasis on environmental and botanical concerns related to F.O.R. project.

Working at Plinio Seniore

December 1, 2015, students taking part in the school exchange watched a documentary on the reconstruction of Stabian villas in 3D, made by a teacher of Plinio Seniore.
Then, there was a little debate about the relationship between Classical and digital culture. Later on, students who were in international groups started to work in the twinspace profile, in their experiences with Italian families, and in the dictionary of mythological plants.
